THANK YOU! Thank you to everyone who came to the 2013 Spring Guides Exchange! Over the course of the weekend, we had over 75 guides participate, in sessions ranging from rescue and rolling practice, moving water theory, tidal rapid surfing, and crisis communication workshops! A highlight was having over 60 paddlers playing in the waters around Surge Narrows on Saturday Night!

This May, Quadra Island will be the site of one of the most memorable Guides Exchange to date. Hosted by Spirit of the West Adventures and in conjunction with Coast Mountain Expeditions this weekend should not be missed!

If you have never attended a SKGABC Exchange, this event should be your first! Alliance exchanges are social and entertaining events which help you develop your paddling skills

    We-Wai-Kai Campground All members are encouraged to come prepared to camp! Rain or shine, its part of the experience!
    All camping costs are included as part of the exchange fee!

    This weekend will be blessed with a 10 Knot flood on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Surge Narrows offers learning opportunities for paddlers of all skill levels, ranging from Novice to Advanced! This is an opportunity to push your skills in a supportive learning environment!


    • Win a NIMBUS Paddle! A lucky member will return home with a brand new Basalt / Carbon Nimbus Paddle. The paddle will be custom adjusted to your personal length preference!
    • Numerous other door prizes!
    Win a Ravenwoods Norsaq!


    As always, its best to BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat). There will be a few boats around for others to borrow. If you require a boat, please contact us:


  • The waters around Quadra Island are extremly cold! To participate in the Current, Rolling or Rescue sessions, immersion gear is required!
  • Helmets - some helmets will be available for use, but please bring your own if possible

    $75 - Includes camping fees, a number of meals, participation in activities, and door prizes!
